TO By the end of March, two years had passed since the regulation of Law 27,350, which regulates medical and scientific research into the medicinal use of the cannabis plant and its derivatives. In dialogue with a specialist, the drawbacks of a law for few came to light.
This Tuesday (23/4) in the afternoon Fabiana Mansilla and Juan Carlos Montiel spoke by telephone with Gabriela Calzolari, of the Civil Association Sativa Science, in the program "Take it easy", by El Cordillerano Radio.
The reason for the communication was to inform what happens with Law 27,350 that regulates medical and scientific research on the medicinal use of the cannabis plant and its derivatives, on March 29, two years after its approval.
"In the country it happened that the law was very short from birth, since it is scientific and medical research and this does not enable anyone to have plants, it is still penalized self-cultivation and collective cultivation," Gabriela explained.
In this regard, he said that in Argentina a program was created in which only one pathology of all those that cannabis could help was enabled, which is refractory epilepsy (it is said this way when a patient is not affected by conventional drugs ).
"The program does not solve much either because what the State authorized in this law is a product imported from the United States, which has a cost of around 700 or 900 dollars per bottle," he said.
He also indicated that "today fortunately there are several social works that are covering the treatment, but always as a result of judicial decisions where dads, mothers and families have to go to a lawyer, file a writ of amparo and everything that implies this issue "
In this context, Calzolari commented that an advisory board was created where there are researchers and professionals from INTA, CONICET, universities and "fundamentally the NGOs that have been supporting this service to the community regarding cannabis. In these two years has never been called to this advisory board, which allegedly was created to make changes and adjustments to the law.
Regarding the help that medical cannabis treatment can offer, he assured that "cannabis has a very broad therapeutic spectrum and a wide range of age, from very young children to very old people, because it is a very complex plant. to their compound and the interaction of them, "he said.
In this line, he indicated that "we and traditional medicine are used to a drug that goes to a single point, as a specific lance, and cannabis comes today to change that paradigm, it is a plant that helps in many aspects".
Consulted by the number of diseases that can be treated with the cannabis plant, Calzolari stressed that in addition to Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Alzheimer's and neurological diseases, you can also treat many diseases that have pain as a symptom, since "the Cannabis is a very natural and good analgesic, even with other drugs used today allopathic medicine can be supplemented and reduce the doses of these drugs.
As for the number of people in the city who need the use of cannabis to calm their pathology, said that "we are in the process of conducting several surveys, especially health professionals to have a notion of how much consultation people, but doctors say that of 10 consultations, 6 are to ask for cannabis, to relieve the pain and learn about the subject.
Finally, Gabriela Calzolari was worried because people believe that cultivating today is legal, "that's why our role is to inform and for that we do talks, but the permits for INTA to cultivate are still not easily obtained, CONICET investigate and so that public laboratories, as the law says, can produce the medicine, the reality is that none of that is happening. "
